JUBILEE OF HOPE Cameroonian pilgrims in Rome

On Wednesday, 29 October 2025, pilgrims from Cameroon took part in the general audience of the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, in St. Peter's Square, in the solemn atmosphere of the Jubilee of Hope.

This group, led by some fifteen bishops, joined thousands of faithful from around the world to listen to the words of the Successor of Peter, with a clear spiritual intention: to implore perpetual peace in Cameroon.

In his catechesis, the Holy Father dedicated his teaching to the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Declaration ‘Nostra Aetate’, a fundamental text of the Second Vatican Council on dialogue between religions. He forcefully recalled that the Church “does not tolerate anti-Semitism” and that dialogue between believers remains a path to peace and universal brotherhood. He invited all religions to join forces in the fight against suffering, injustice and violence, working together for justice, reconciliation and the protection of creation.

In a world marked by conflict and division, the Pope made a passionate appeal for unity among believers and shared responsibility for peace, recalling that “true faith brings hearts together rather than setting them against one another”. He also stressed the need to humanize technological progress and make science an instrument at the service of the common good.

The Cameroonian pilgrims welcomed this message from the Holy Father as a prophetic call to conversion of heart and commitment to peace.

In a moment of deep contemplation, they entrusted Cameroon to the Lord in this post-election period, with its wounds and divisions, but also its immense potential for communion and hope.

At the end of the audience, Pope Leo XIV gave his blessing to the group of Cameroonian pilgrims, encouraging them to be witnesses of peace and unity in their country.
