Le diocèse de Nkongsamba a officiellement lancé du 4 au 6 décembre dernier, les célébrations marquant le 70ᵉ anniversaire de son érection canonique, à l’occasion d’une visite historique du nonce apostolique au Cameroun. Mgr José Avelino Bettencourt a salué la contribution des autorités locales à la paix et à la cohésion sociale.

On November 19, 2025, His Excellency José Avelino Bettencourt, the Apostolic Nuncio to Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, delivered a speech at an international conference held at the Catholic University of Central Africa (UCAC) in partnership with UNICEF, which centered on the theme "Children's Rights in African Academia: Towards a New Partnership for Research, Training, and Advocacy."

The Apostolic Nuncio emphasized the sacredness of children as gifts and the responsibilities of the Catholic Church. He highlighted the vital role of Catholic universities in the advocacy and protection of children's rights.

The Archdiocese of Bamenda is celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the dedication of its cathedral. The building dedicated to Saint Joseph was consecrated in 1975 The Apostolic Nuncio to Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, Archbishop Jose Avelino BETTENCOURT, honored the event with a three-day pastoral visit during which he rededicated St. Joseph's Cathedral in Bamenda, while inviting the faithful to peace, national unity, and reconciliation.
