THE POPE TO VISIT THE REPUBLIC OF EQUATORIAL GUINEA
The Head of State, S. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, on Friday 23rd January, met with members of the Episcopal Conference. The purpose of this meeting has been to coordinate preparations for a historic occasion: the upcoming visit of Pope Leo XIV to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.

Le 49ème Séminaire annuel des évêques du Cameroun s’est clôturé le 10 janvier 2026. En quittant Kumba, les évêques ont réaffirmé leur engagement à promouvoir la communion et la collégialité au sein de la Conférence épiscopale nationale du Cameroun, pour une meilleure organisation et coordination de la pastorale d'ensemble, et pour mieux guider les fidèles.

International Conference on the role of Academia in Promoting and Protecting Child Rights
On November 19, 2025, His Excellency José Avelino Bettencourt, the Apostolic Nuncio to Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, delivered a speech at an international conference held at the Catholic University of Central Africa (UCAC) in partnership with UNICEF, which centered on the theme "Children's Rights in African Academia: Towards a New Partnership for Research, Training, and Advocacy."
The Apostolic Nuncio emphasized the sacredness of children as gifts and the responsibilities of the Catholic Church. He highlighted the vital role of Catholic universities in the advocacy and protection of children's rights.
1975-2025 Golden Jubilee of St. Joseph's Cathedral in Mankon-Bamenda
The Archdiocese of Bamenda is celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the dedication of its cathedral. The building dedicated to Saint Joseph was consecrated in 1975 The Apostolic Nuncio to Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, Archbishop Jose Avelino BETTENCOURT, honored the event with a three-day pastoral visit during which he rededicated St. Joseph's Cathedral in Bamenda, while inviting the faithful to peace, national unity, and reconciliation.
