The Holy Father met with staff and patients at the “Jean Pierre Olie” psychiatric hospital in Malabo

Pope Leo: “The hospital is a place that welcomes vulnerability to help people get better”.

The Holy Father met with staff and patients at the “Jean Pierre Olie” psychiatric hospital in Malabo, listening to several testimonies.

Pope Leo met with the vulnerable. On his first day in Equatorial Guinea, the final stop of his apostolic journey, the Pontiff visited the “Jean Pierre Olie” psychiatric hospital in Malabo, where he listened to several testimonies. The Holy Father recalled that “God truly loves us just as we are” and “does not want us to remain sick; he wants to heal us.” To save us, the Pope continued, he wants our cooperation on a personal and social level, which is why “he asks us to love our brothers and sisters in deeds.” A hospital, the Holy Father added, can become a “sign of the civilization of love.”
